Completed in 1842, the Croton Aqueduct carried water 41 miles from the Croton Dam into Manhattan.
The City of New York Parks & Recreation has commissioned an interpretive signage system extending 15 miles through Manhattan and the Bronx. Utilizing text and historic images to convey the story of the Aqueduct, we have designed 3-sided structures in collaboration with landscape architect Nancy Owens Studio, architect and historian Kevin Bone, and FTL Design Engineering Studio. Standing 18” wide x 7.5’ tall, these structures are sited at key locations throughout the City.
Design currently under review.
The Blue Planet concerts, a cultural celebration in Amsterdam, was inspired by astronauts’ perspective of Earth from space, where the borders between countries blur. Laurel Marx Design used a photo from NASA to illustrate commonalities between all nations.
City of New York Parks & Recreation commissioned an interpretive signage system to describe the Wetlands in Van Cortlandt Park. Panel backgrounds utilized photos of the actual site, creating a dynamic interplay between background and foreground, text
and image.

In collaboration with landscape architect Nancy Owens Studio, the project won the American Society of Landscape Architects 2010 Merit Award for Planning, Analysis, Research, Communications.
